The adjustment to motherhood can be challenging process. We are here to support you and your children during this time of transition.

We offer a range of individual support and group programs, supported by our qualified counsellors and therapists who specialise in perinatal care, therapy for children, art therapy and play therapy.

Perinatal Mental Health

The following support options, courses and groups are perinatal-focused: supporting new mothers from pregnancy to the child being three years old.

Individual Perinatal Sessions

Our perinatal counsellors can work 1:1 with you as a new mother (from pregnancy to 3 years old) to improve mental health and wellbeing, and work on attachment between mother and child. Working on mother-child attachment early on creates better outcomes later in life, for a mother’s mental health and a child’s quality of life. Our perinatal counsellors are trained in Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and can use this during your individual sessions.

Adjusting to Baby and Change (ABC)

An 8-week course to help you new mothers to increase your mental wellbeing and confidence, through mindful practices, reflection, creative processes and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This group is intended to offer a safe, reflective space, build self-awareness and understanding and empower new mothers by exploring ways to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

It’s also an opportunity to connect with other new mothers who are striving to improve their health and wellbeing.

Healing Wombs

A weekly art therapy group designed to help women process and make sense of their experiences of birth trauma. We explore the journey of becoming a mother, our identity, role, challenges and hopes. Art therapy is an opportunity to acknowledge, communicate and express feelings using art as a medium to do so. You don’t need any art experience to participate or reap the therapeutic benefits.

Play Now, Discover Always Supported Playgroup

Playing with our children is very important for their development and the mother-child relationship. This 8-week therapeutic supported playgroup is designed to support: your relationship with your child/ren, respond to your child/ren’s needs, and encourages you to reflect on feelings and behaviours as they arise.

Circle of Security: A parenting program

At times, all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our babies and children might need from us. This program supports you to make sense of what your child is really asking, allowing you to better understand your child’s behaviour.

Circle of Security (COS) is an eight-week program helping parents create a healthier relationship with their child. Our therapists are qualified facilitators in this well-known early intervention program. You can read more about the COS parenting model here.

We offer Circle of Security (COS) in three different groups:

  • COS for new mothers: from pregnancy to three years old
  • COS for women: with children of any age
  • COS for men: with children of any age

Kids In Focus

A comprehensive program for children and families affected by alcohol and/or other drug misuse. Our therapists work with you, and your children to overcome challenges and trauma through:

  • Child and Family counselling
  • Art, play and sand tray therapies
  • Group work
  • Parenting support
  • Psychoeducational workshops

Family Therapy

The goal of family therapy is to enhance a sense of belonging, connection and communication with your family members. When you are able to process the challenges and problems your family is facing collectively, you are able to better empathise with one another, and establish stronger relationships and healthy boundaries.

Bringing a therapist into your family dynamic can help you:

  • Improve communication and allow each person to be equally heard
  • Collectively identify strengths of your unique family dynamic
  • Identify areas of unhealthy patterns that might be damaging the relationships
  • Problem solve and resolve conflict together rather than independently
  • Start a conversation that might feel too difficult to have without assistance

Family therapy is for the family unit, available for parents and children up to the age of 24. The length of time that family therapy takes depends on the unique collective goals set out in collaboration with their therapist.

Please note that we don’t offer couples therapy or mediation as part of this service.

Family therapy locations: Northbridge & Joondalup.
